The famous house in Melbourne is renovated by architect Stephen Jolson nearly 60 years after it was built. The commission to alter one of the most important houses within the oeuvre of one of Australiaâs most important architects would test the mettle of the fiercest design titan. But when itâs the structurally expressive Bridge House (so named after its dominant ellipse-shaped truss) by the late Robin Boyd (1919â1971), an architect whose work still incites rave commentary and collector zealotry, the weight of expectation would be crushing.
